Jay Many

Although born in upstate New York, Jay moved with his family to Chapel Hill while the ink was still drying on his birth certificate. In his early years, he loved tinkering with building materials and constructing small items for his family. He carried this with him through high school and this knack helped fuel his desire to work in the field of construction. After high school, Jay started working with local home builders. He acquired knowledge in all aspects of this industry:  homebuilding, remodeling, handyman services, warranty services and punch lists. He saw the correct and the incorrect way the builders he worked with built houses, treated clients and oversaw projects. After over 35 years of gaining this invaluable knowledge, and an insightful year of living during the pandemic and reprioritizing his work/life balance, Jay decided to branch out on his own with his wife, Susan, to start Carrboro Remodeling & Repair Company.

Susan Many

Susan is a transplant from the Midwest. During the pandemic, Susan officially hit her “I have lived in NC longer than the Midwest” anniversary! She is a graduate of Indiana University School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting. Susan and Jay met in the late 90s working for the same home builder. Coming from a family background in construction, Susan always loved accounting for and helping small construction companies in the area. After moving to Carrboro right after 9/11 changed everyone’s lives, Jay and Susan raised their family of three children. During all the downtime while riding out the pandemic, Jay and Susan thought this would be the perfect time to combine their skills and start a no-nonsense building company in the heart of the community they love so much.
